Today, we’re talking to Jason – the operator of The Leather Doctor Tweed Heads, which is situated on the QLD/NSW border. We sat down and had a chat to him about why he joined The Leather Doctor and what he loves about running his own business. Here’s what he had to say:
What was it that attracted you to join the Leather Doctor business?
A friend of mine is the wife of one of The Leather Doctors and she mentioned that her husband was looking for a business partner. We had a discussion about the business and I spent a day out on the road and thought that this life style was pretty awesome.
What did you do prior to becoming a Leather Doctor?
For the last two decades I have fitted out luxury multi-million-dollar power yachts. Working mainly with timber, furniture making and upholstery.
What territory do you operate?
I operate The Leather Doctor Tweed Heads and also help out with work in Surfers Paradise and into the Northern Gold Coast as required.
What have you been able to achieve via your time as A Leather Doctor?
I have achieved more control in my life, become so much more accountable for my daily actions, and have been able to spend some amazing quality time with my Son (as we now work together).
What advice would you give to someone looking to purchase a franchise/operate a franchise?
If you really want to own a business, be prepared to put in the hard work, and then enjoy growing.
What’s the most interesting job you’ve worked on to date?
We repaired a leather inlaid pirate table once! That was awesome.
What do you love most about being a Leather Doctor?
Being a Leather Doctor allows me to set many different goals in my life and have control over achieving them, which is really great!
Tell us one interesting fact about yourself?
I love to listen to classical chamber music whilst driving around in my Leather Doctor van… but my Son does not…haha!
Describe your ideal weekend?
Not that this is likely to happen, but on the weekend I would like to be woken with a nice cup of tea at 4.30am. I would then meat my running buddy and go for a 20km trip around the Gold Coast beaches. I would then meet up with my gym mates and do a Pump class followed by Spin class. Next we are off to a well earned big breaky. The rest of the day would be spent with my wife Kathleen cruising around the shops stopping for some lunch and then off home, cup of tea, dinner, movie and retire for the night. Sunday would be gym, massage and a game of soccer. Pretty quiet really 🙂
