Today, we’re talking to Hayley and Marty – the owners and operators of The Leather Doctor Broadbeach territory in sunny south-east Queensland. We sat down and had a chat to them about why they joined the business and what they love about running their own franchise. Here’s what they had to say:
What was it that attracted you to join the business?
The amazing support team and the lifestyle balance with our family.
What do you most love about being a Leather Doctor?
The incredible people we meet every day and are able to help.
How have you gone about promoting and growing your business?
We don’t really do much advertising, mostly our work comes from word of mouth and leaflet letter box drops which makes the phone ring every time. We have also run a couple of small print ads and we have just started a Facebook page for our territory.
What did a typical day as a Leather Doctor look like?
A mix of store warranty work, which might include replacing seat foams or recliner mechanisms and private leather work in customer’s houses, mending cuts and re-colouring lounges. No day is the same – it is nice to have a bit of variety.
What have you been able to achieve via your time as A Leather Doctor/what do you hope to achieve?
We have achieved a more flexible work life balance with our family. We now run a successful business that our family can be part of in years to come.
What advice would you give to someone looking to purchase a Leather Doctor franchise?
Go out for a couple of days with different franchisees to see the day to day activities and don’t forget about the administration side of the business.
Describe your ideal weekend?
We have 2 kids and we joined the business to be able to spend more time with them. So our weekends are all about family time, with lots of sport and catching up with friends.
